Great Idea!
Parents: Armed and Loaded with Prayer by Dutch Sheets
I believe prayer is the most important thing we can do for our children, our friends & neighbors, our community, and for our nation. Nevertheless, it seems to be one of our last resorts--something we turn to when we're desperate. But what if we, like the examples in the following article, made prayer a habit? What if we set aside a time each day to pray specifically for God's plan for all those around us? I believe we would see many amazing results, don't you?
Have you had an amazing answer to prayer as a result of your perseverence? I would love to hear about it.
Have you had an amazing answer to prayer as a result of your perseverence? I would love to hear about it.
Dutch Sheets:
Parents: Armed and Loaded with Prayer
When George McCluskey married and started a family, he decided to invest one hour a day in prayer, because he wanted his kids to follow Christ. After a time, he expanded his prayers to include his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Every day between 11:00 A.M. and noon, he prayed for the next three generations.
As the years went by, his two daughters committed their lives to Christ and married men who went into full-time ministry. The two couples produced four girls and one boy. Each of the girls married a minister, and the boy became a pastor.
The first two children born to this generation were both boys. Upon graduation from high school, the two cousins chose the same college and became roommates. During their sophomore year, one boy decided to go into the ministry. The other didn't. He undoubtedly felt some pressure to continue the family legacy, but he chose instead to pursue his interest in psychology. He earned his doctorate and eventually wrote books for parents that became bestsellers. He started a radio program heard on more than a thousand stations each day. The man's name—James Dobson.
Talk about the power of prayer! The next time you're blessed by Focus on the Family or one of Dr. Dobson's books, thank God for a generational watchman, George McCluskey. Many kids aren't as blessed with praying fathers.
At a 1994 Promise Keepers' conference in Denton, Texas, Pastor James Ryle told his story:
When he was two-years-old, his father was sent to prison. When he was seven, authorities placed him in an orphanage. At 19, he had a car wreck that killed a friend. He sold drugs to raise money for his legal fee, and the law caught up to him. He was arrested, charged with a felony and sent to prison.
While in prison James accepted Christ, and after he served his time, he eventually went into the ministry. Years later he sought out his father to reconcile with him. When they got together, the conversation turned to prison life.
James's father asked, "Which prison were you in?"
James told him, and his father was taken aback. "I helped build that prison," he said. He had been a welder who went from place to place building penitentiaries.
Pastor Ryle concluded, "I was in the prison my father built."
Indeed! In more ways than one.
These are amazing stories, powerfully contrasting two possibilities. We can either build prisons for our children or through prayer build fruitful lives that bless others.
ALL HE CAN DO IS PRAY
The same stories could be told by millions around the world. Change the names, a detail here and there, but the bottom lines are the same: success or failure, life or death, fruitfulness or barrenness, bondage or freedom—results that are largely determined by the influence of righteous or unrighteous parents. Never underestimate the power of a praying parent!
As we think about the importance of watching intercession for individuals, most of us probably think immediately of our families, as well we should. Our personal gardens, as our opening stories reveal, are where we must begin. Quin Sherrer has taught much on the subject of praying for family members. In her book Good Night, Lord, she relates an occasion of interceding for her son:
"I clearly remember a day when the Lord spoke to me about my teenage son, Keith, as I walked the beach. Deeply concerned about his spiritual condition, I felt he was drifting further and further from the Lord. My only recourse was prayer. I realized that as a parent, I had made so many mistakes. So I asked the Lord to forgive me.
"That afternoon, as I walked alone, I proclaimed aloud Scriptures tucked away in my heart. 'The seed of the righteous shall be delivered,' I shouted into the wind 'Because of Jesus' Blood I am righteous and my children are my seed and they shall be delivered,' I paraphrased. 'All my children shall be taught of the Lord, and great will be their peace,' I paraphrased again (see Proverbs 11:21; Isaiah 54:13, KJV).
"Over and over, I repeated Scriptural promises God had given me for my children. I desperately needed an answer for my son. After more than an hour of this, I reached down and picked up a small brown shell being tossed about by the waves. 'Trust me to polish and perfect your son,' the Lord seemed to whisper to my spirit as I turned the shell over in my hand.
"I took my shell home, cleaned it and set it where I could see it whenever I cooked. 'Lord, You promised,' I would say some days as I cradled it in my palm. Even after Keith left for college and I saw little change, I thanked God for His word that He and He alone would perfect my son whom I loved so very much.
"Our prayer battle ended one night when Keith called to ask his father and me to forgive him; we asked him to forgive us, too. He had started his pilgrimage back to the Lord. After college and a short career in graphic arts, he enrolled in Bible school.
"Not long ago, Keith finished seven years of service with the Youth With A Mission organization (YWAM)...Today he's a godly husband to a wonderful wife and the father of two young daughters. My 'promise shell' still sits in my kitchen, testimony to a prayer answer God gave me so many years ago. That promise shell is also a watchman shell, for that is the watchman anointing!"
Quin also shares prayer steps she uses in being a watchman for her children:
• Be specific;
• Pray Scripture passages aloud;
• Write down your prayers;
• Pray in accordance with God's will;
• Pray for your children's future.
In another of her books, The Spiritual Warrior's Prayer Guide, she and Ruthanne Garlock give Biblical examples of how to do this by offering the following Scriptural prayers:
• That Jesus Christ be formed in our children (see Galatians 4:19);
• That our children—the seed of the righteous—will be delivered from the evil one (see Proverbs 11:21, KJV; Matthew 6:13);
• That our children will be taught of the Lord and their peace will be great (see Isaiah 54:13);
• That they will train themselves to discern good from evil and have a good conscience toward God (see Hebrews 5:14; 1 Peter 3:21);
• That God's laws will be in their minds and on their hearts (see Hebrews 8:10);
• That they will choose companions who are wise—not fools, nor sexually immoral, nor drunkards, nor idolaters, nor slanderers, nor swindlers (see Proverbs 13:20; 1 Corinthians 5:11);
• That they will remain sexually pure and keep themselves only for their spouse, asking God for His grace to keep such a commitment (see Ephesians 5:3,31-33);
• That they will honor their parents (see Ephesians 6:1-3).
My fellow watchman, most of us will never be called to lay our lives down in a literal sense. But every Believer is called to a life of prayer. In fact, we are called to be our brothers keeper—yes, the word is watchman. How much more should we keep "watch" for our own children whom the Lord has entrusted to us? I encourage you to pick up the serpent-killing mantle God is offering. Use it daily!

Psalm 2
Many try to deny there is a God, but He has already determined what will happen to those in rebellion. Here He tells us in Psalm 2. (Passion Translation). I particularly like the verse that says God is amused at all their puny plans. The NIV translation says,"the One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath…" That is my prayer for the rulers of this world--that they would get a glimpse of how awesome, how powerful, how great, how magnificent, how good, how big God is, and they would be terrified to go against Him.
Psalm 2
The Drama of the Nations
Act I: The Nations Speak
How dare the nations plan a rebellion,
Ranting and raging against the Lord Most High?
Their foolish plots are futile!
Look at how the kings of the earth
Rise up to hold their summit,
Scheming and conferring together
Against God and His Anointed King, saying:
"Let's come together and break away from the Creator,
Once and for all let's cast off these controlling chains
Of God and His Christ!
Act II: God Speaks
God-Enthroned merely laughs at them;
Amused at all their puny plans, mocking their madness!
Then with the fierceness of His fiery anger He settles the issue,
And terrifies them to death with these words:
"I have poured out My King on Zion, My Holy Mountain.
You had better listen to the One that I have chosen!"
Act III: The Son Speaks
"I will reveal the eternal purpose of God.
For He has decreed over Me, 'You are My favored Son.
And as Your Father I have crowned You as My King Eternal.
Today I have given You glory!
Ask Me to give You the nations and I will do it,
And they shall become Your legacy.
Your domain will stretch to the ends of the earth.
And You will rule over them with unlimited authority,
Crushing their rebellion like
An iron rod smashing jars of clay!"
Act IV: The Holy Spirit Speaks
"Listen to Me, all you rebel-kings
And all you upstart rulers of this earth!
Learn your lesson while there's still time.
Serve and worship the awe-inspiring God.
Recognize His greatness and bow before Him,
Trembling with reverence in His presence.
Fall face down before Him and kiss the feet of His Son
Before His anger is roused against you.
Remember that His wrath can be quickly kindled!
But many blessings are waiting for all
Who turn aside to hide themselves in Him!"

May Day! by Roseann Salanitri
Everyone needs to read this very disturbing article by Roseann Salanitri and then we must ask ourselves, "Are we willing to stand for the values our country was founded upon or are we going to sit quietly by while our country is overthrown by a bunch of thugs?" Not only is it time to get serious about praying for God to reveal himself to our leaders, but I believe it is also time to fight back! We must not keep silent any longer. I pray that it is not too late.
“May Day” when repeated three times is recognized worldwide as a cry for help in life threatening situations. The call is traditionally used by mariners and aviators. Unfortunately, crying May Day in the case of a dying nation will not garner the support of nearby ships or planes. But it can be the battle cry of the patriots who understand that the country they love is under siege and in dire straits.
The man who presently sits in the oval office armed with a pen and a phone is at the forefront of the most subtle and effective coup in the history of the world. As a result, this nation finds itself in a very threatening situation. While our citizens are distracted by the unemployment numbers and ObamaCare, the anti-American coup has been escalating and the final nails in America’s coffin are being hammered in daily. The question is: will we voluntarily lie down in the coffin Regressives have fashioned for this nation or will we rise up and defend what is rightfully ours?
Fortunately, not all have been distracted. God still has His watchmen. They are patriots worth their weight in gold who have withstood the constant assaults by the establishment’s con artists and have developed a core of fine beaten metal. One such patriot is Nicholas Purpura- a Jersey resident and someone I am proud to call “friend.” This week, Nick wrote a very disturbing article entitled Obama’s Illegal Army[i]. In and of itself, the article would send shivers up and down any true patriot’s spine, but when coupled with other disturbing facts, it should make you want to shout May Day! May Day! May Day! to just about anyone who will listen.
Some of the disturbing points made in Obama’s Illegal Army, are related to the unconstitutionality of Obama creating a Civilian National Security Force under his exclusive control in HR3590 – otherwise known as the “Affordable Care Act.” In the article, Purpura also quoted a statement made by Obama in a speech on July 2, 2008, in which he said:
We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set.”
In the speech Obama went on to say:
“We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.”
In addition to this disturbing course of events, we see average citizens being harassed by the Obama Administration, as well as by other opportunistic bullies that we have elected to represent us. Chris Christie may dominate the headlines when it comes to abuse of power, but he is not alone in his mindset. It has been reported that videographer James O’Keefe, best known for exposing Acorn and founder of the Veritas Group, has recently been issued subpoenas. Of course it should be noted that O’Keefe has recently been targeting NY Governor Andrew Cuomo. Co-incidence?
What about D.C.’s successful finance advisor, Mark Witaschek? Witaschek’s police record is non-existent; however, he has suffered two swat team raids on his home. The first raid turned up nothing. In the second raid, Witaschek and his girlfriend were handcuffed face down on the floor with guns pointed to their heads. At the same time, the swat team used a battering ram to bash down the bathroom door where his 16-year-old son was showering. They turned up one spent shotgun shell that Witaschek saved as a souvenir and an empty handgun holster. For this crime – the crime of keeping a spent shotgun shell and an empty holster – Witaschek has been indicted and is facing two years in prison. Today Mark Witaschek – tomorrow you.
Still not convinced that we are living in a dangerous political climate? Perhaps you should consider Dinesh D‘Souza. Mr. D’Souza was recently indicted for violating campaign finance laws. Of course, Mr. D’Souza is also well-known for his powerful documentary exposing Obama’s anti-American ideologies.
Still not convinced? Consider the IRS’ persecution of TEA Parties where Lois Lerner was awarded a paid vacation for her role in the IRS’ abuse of power against “enemies of the state” – translation: TEA Party and Conservative groups. Of course her paid vacation was labeled as a suspension, but her suspension just happened to come with a paycheck attached.
True to form for most tyrannies, the respect of the life of its citizens is nearly non-existent, unless of course you happen to be a detainee at Gitmo or a common thug like Travon Martin – but not if you are a survivor of the Fort Hood shootings, defending our Ambassador at Benghazi, or a helpless infant born as a result of a botched abortion. I’ve written before about the ruling class being created in these United States, however, there is another class of citizens that is being created that is infinitely more disturbing: the patriot class – or those who object to the crimes being committed daily against our Constitution. While the serf class may be tolerated and manipulated by the ruling class (after all, their labor is necessary), the patriot class must be annihilated in order for tyranny to prevail.
If you happen to be a member of the patriot class, then I suggest that now is a good time to start yelling “May Day.” Why?
Our nation is in peril.
Our military is being dismantled and being replaced by an army of Obama stooges.
Our citizens are being harassed and abused by those in power.
Our patriots’ lives are not valued – neither at home nor abroad.
Our guns are being taken away.
Our healthcare has been decimated, along with our economy.
Our children are being indoctrinated and eroticized in government-run schools.
Our property is being confiscated in the name of eminent domain and sustainability. Our jobs are being sent to foreign countries.
Our fuel dollars are being sent to nations that would like to see us annihilated and our ability to produce our own fuel is being thwarted, keeping us dependent on and supporting those who would annihilate us.
Our rights as parents of disabled children are being threatened by U.N. treaties.
Our liberty of conscience and right to worship is being attacked through the perversion of the first amendment.
Our Congress, Judiciary, and Executive branches fail to hold each other accountable. Our Constitution has been unofficially deemed “archaic.”
Our voting system has been corrupted.
Our money is being robbed by those who in some cases will not work – all in the name of entitlements and as a way to buy votes.
In short, our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is being usurped and decimated constantly. It seems that over 200 years ago we fought a war for such violations of our God-given rights. Back in ancient Israel the prophets blew the trumpet; back in 1776 our Founders cried “Revolution”; today can we muster the strength to begin to yell “May Day” or will the coup run its course and turn the land of the free into the land of the serfs?

Wednesday - Robby Dawkins, Vineyard Aurora, USA
We were at a conference last week with Randy Clark and Robby Dawkins. They told some amazing, incredibly inspiring stories of things that have happened as they have stepped out to pray for healing so that people will know how much God loves them and wants to have a relationship with them.
Several years ago we went on a life-changing mission trip to Brazil with Randy Clark, so we were familiar with his ministry. While on the mission trip we saw so many miraculous healings that ever since I have been longing to go again. This conference stirred up the desire to see those things happen wherever we are--not just on foreign missions.
Robby's stories challenged me. Do I believe what Jesus said--that we are to go and do likewise the things He did? Am I willing to risk stepping out, or will I continue to allow fear of what people will think to control my actions?
The video above is posted on YouTube. In it Robby Dawkins who was doing a conference in another country a few months ago tells a couple of incredible stories. You can hear them immediately into the talk if you're interested but don't think you have time right now to watch the whole thing.
Below is a link to an article he wrote for Charisma Magazine explaining his lifestyle and belief.

Follow Your Hunger by Francis Frangipane
Follow Your Hunger
Today too many Christians have lost their hunger for God. Instead of coming into the Lord's presence hungry for more of His fullness, our thoughts are held hostage to worldly pursuits and fleshly distractions. At best we are merely curious about spiritual realities, but not truly hungry.
Let me tell you a story that illustrates what I mean. We have a little dog named Sophie. Sophie loves people food. To her, eating people food is the culinary equivalent of entering the Kingdom of God. She loves our food. She even has a Bible verse that she claims in faith, "Even the dogs get the crumbs" (Matt 15:27). When my wife and I share a meal, Sophie will sit at our feet, squint her eyes, and stare at us (she thinks squinting makes her cuter). Any food that falls to the floor instantly vanishes into her mouth. No matter how much of her food she has already eaten, she is always hungry for ours. Our home has a small, fenced-in yard outside our porch where Sophie plays. Although the fence surrounds the area, there are gaps where the pickets don't quite reach to the ground. If Sophie wanted, she actually could squeeze under the fence and get out, but she normally has no reason to try. Occasionally she will get curious and go as far as the gate, stand there a while and look out, but she doesn't leave the yard. One day, though, my wife decided to feed a few slices of stale bread to the birds that nest on the other side of the fence. When Sophie went out an hour later, she immediately noticed a human food smell in the air, which she tracked to the bread outside the gate. In less than a heartbeat she found a little gap under the picket fence, flattened herself to the ground, and then shimmied beneath the fence to the bread on the other side. It was gone in less than a minute. My point is this: hunger will take you where mere curiosity would never go. My friend, God is looking for hungry people. Blessed are those who hunger. He is seeking people who are truly seeking Him. Indeed, He has bread from Heaven for us, and it is eternally satisfying. We cannot afford to settle into the routine of a fenced-in reality, not when God has eternal food prepared for us. Let us, therefore, follow our hunger as we pursue the presence of God. |

Everything You Know About Composting is Wrong: Mike McGrath at TEDxPhoen...
This is a humorous informative video on composting. I need to be composting more of our leaves. Obviously living in the woods gives an endless supply, but when they all come down at once it's so much easier to burn them than to shred them into piles.

You are Entering a Season of Justice and Restoration by Garris Elkins
Garris Elkins:
You are Entering a Season of Justice and Restoration
We are entering a season where those who have experienced injustice are about to receive supernatural restoration. Throughout history the justice of God has brought restoration to His people who have suffered injustice at the hands of the enemy. This is not a time for despair and sorrow. This is a time to begin living in expectancy. Something wonderful is about to take place.
The Lord is speaking a word of hope in the middle of injustice:
"I am about to right this wrong. The injustice done to you cannot stand in the presence of My justice. The enemy came to steal, rob and destroy, but watch what I am about to do. My court has issued an official order against this work of injustice in your life. Give Me your sorrow. Give Me your despair. These are illegal orders issued from the courts of darkness. I have destined this season to be a time when My goodness and purpose will be revealed. My mercy and justice is coming. This injustice you are experiencing is about to become a place of celebration and restoration."
An Accident of Despair
In early December I slipped on some ice and ruptured a tendon in my knee. It was one of most painful things I have ever experienced. This injury was not on my radar or included in my life-plan. Within days I was in surgery to repair the torn tendon. My entire life was rearranged in one moment of time.
Immediately following the accident, I was isolated to a chair or couch with a brace on my leg to keep it uncomfortably extended during the initial healing process. During this time of recuperation I read, I wrote, I ate food lovingly provided by friends. I did all of these same things each day with no break in my routine. My life became a series of repeats.
One morning I was standing in our bathroom with the support of my crutches. As I was drying my hands, I felt the overwhelming presence of despair enter the room. I had never before felt the presence of despair in my life.
The best way I could describe what I was feeling was that I was being slowly pulled by the current of a powerful river towards the edge of a huge waterfall. It was a power that seemed impossible to resist. What I was going through felt similar to being in the hospital in preparation for my knee surgery and going under anesthesia. As someone goes under anesthesia reality begins to slip away and you are taken to another place.
In the moment just before despair came with its dark vision, the reality of my injury had hit me with full force. I had been told I would be in this brace for several months followed by a season of rehabilitation not able to do all the things I love to do.
As I stood there looking into the bathroom mirror, the sorrow of my situation was setting me up to embrace hopelessness. As I drifted towards the edge of despair, I even heard my surgeon's words, "You should be back to normal in 6-8 months." I became overwhelmed with sorrow. My sorrow began to anesthetize me to accept what appeared to be inevitable, taking me to a place I had never been before. The closer I got to the waterfall the deeper I went into the numbing effects of my sorrow.
Over the years, I have ministered to people who have drifted towards this edge of despair and sometimes gone over its falls. Some never returned. Some came back after years of counseling. I was scared.
Out loud, with the hand towel still hanging from my hands, I said, "I have no despair. I have hope in God." In that moment the image disappeared and the despair was gone. This was no magic, memorized formula. This was a cry from the depth of my heart in a desperate moment of great need. I left the bathroom and told my wife, Jan, what had just happened. I felt shaken and emotional.
His Goodness and Purpose
In the next few minutes we took communion and prayed. Jan walked me through some directed prayer about despair and we made sure any residue of this lying visitor was no longer present.
A week earlier, the day after my knee injury, the Lord said two words to me that would guide me during this season of recovery.He said this would be a season where I would experience His goodness and purpose. The vision of despair came to try and rob from me of the goodness and purpose God had planned.
What happened to me was an injustice. God did not cause me to slip on the ice. Hell used this situation to attempt to steal, rob and destroy through an act of injustice. God had other plans. His intent was to bless, affirm and build my life in the midst of my suffering.
Calling On the God of Justice
The despair I felt had to be challenged or the injustice I experienced would try to define my life. My future freedom depended upon me confronting despair and the hypnotic influence of ungodly sorrow. My only hope was found in calling on the God of justice.
Hope is a person, not a theory. He has authority over the power and imagery of despair. He has given that same authority to us. Despair cannot stand in His presence, nor can despair continue to pull us towards its place of eventual death, if we call upon God in our time of need. Lies have no power in the light of His presence.
As I began to experience a new sense of personal freedom, the Lord said this coming season would be a time of an unusual outpouring of justice for His people. Scriptures about His justice began to flood my mind.
"Righteousness and justice are the foundations of Your throne."Psalm 89:14
"For the Lord loves justice, and He will never abandon the godly." Psalm 37:28a
"The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly." Psalm 103:6
"For I, the Lord, love justice. I hate robbery and wrongdoing. I will faithfully reward My people for their suffering and make an everlasting covenant with them." Isaiah 61:8
"My mercy and justice are coming soon. My salvation is on the way." Isaiah 51:5
If you have experienced an injustice, God wants you to hear His heart. If you have suffered a financial injustice, listen. If you have suffered injustice in your marriage, listen. If you have suffered an injustice concerning the destiny of one of your children, listen. If you suffered an injustice at the hands of another Believer, listen. Listen to the heart of the God of justice.
His mercy and justice is coming. His salvation is on the way.

We Have Met The Enemy by Dan Bubalo
We Have Met The Enemy
PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT: ”A date which will live in infamy.”
PRESIDENT EISENHOWER: ”A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.”
PRESIDENT LINCOLN: ”America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
PRESIDENT TRUMAN: ”The buck stops here.”
PRESIDENT KENNEDY: ”Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.”
PRESIDENT OBAMA: ”I have a pen and a phone.”
What is this, “Thus Spake Zarathustra”? I guess we have the ubermensch among us and apparently nobody including a majority of Congress will acknowledge the president’s messianic superiority, which was on display again during his most recent huffing and puffing session. Who ever thought we’d have a foot-stomping, tempestuous brat and inexperienced administrator for a president? ”I have a pen and a phone”?. . .

***[Definition for ubermensch for those like me who didn't know: the ideal superior man of the future who could rise above conventional Christian morality to create and impose his own values, originally described by Nietzsche in Thus Spake Zarathustra (1883–85)].

Additional Info on the Toronto Conference this week
If you're interested in watching any more of the Toronto Conference--which after last night's Anniversary Celebration is called Revival Alliance Conference, here is a link: http://www.youtube.com/user/CatchTheFireTV.
20th Anniversary Celebration Night - Randy Clark
Last night we watched the talk by Randy Clark on the first night of the 20th Anniversary of the Toronto Blessing Celebration. We missed the first hour or two because of a meeting but the talk was excellent so you can fast forward the video to about the midway mark if you don't have time to watch it all.
They announced they are LiveStreaming all the evening talks this week, so I thought I would pass on the information, in case you didn't already know. Since this one is on YouTube I assume we can find each evening's message by searching YouTube for 20th Anniversary Celebration Night--at least that's what I'm going to try first.

How to do the cup song from pitch perfect, originally from Lulu and the ...
Can you tell that I am totally fascinated by the Cup Song? I suppose it is because I am so un-coordinated! On the videos I've posted so far I just couldn't figure out how they were getting all those sounds so I finally had to find a video to take me through it step by step.
Now all I need do is practice! Anybody want to practice with me? It would be so much more fun to pass the cup once I have the rhythm down!

Love Just One by Francis Frangipane
Love Just One(En Español) Our discernment comes from knowing the mind of Christ. But let me make this quest as practical as possible: If we seek to know Christ's motives, we will soon perceive His thoughts, for thoughts exist to fulfill motives. Christ's motive for coming to mankind is to reveal the Father's love. If we obtain His motive, we will increasingly hear His thoughts. Thus, Paul wrote, "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment" (Phil. 1:9). The route to true knowledge and all discernment is to possess abounding love. Let us learn to rest our heads upon Christ's breast and listen to His heart. For in hearing His heart, we can discern His love for those around us. Yet I acknowledge that, for some, to love others as Christ has loved us remains an ideal too far to reach. Therefore let's start small and bring this task close to home. Rather than attempting to love everyone everywhere, let us reduce our challenge and make our aim to love just one person. Now I do not mean we should stop loving family or those we already love. I mean add just one person to your heart and release your love to that individual in a more Christlike way. This person may be a lost neighbor or a backslidden friend; he or she might be a sick acquaintance or an elderly person from church. The individual may be a child in physical or emotional pain. (I am not suggesting you focus on an individual of the opposite sex.) The Lord will lead you. He will put one person on your heart and give you grace to grow in love. Come to this experiment without seeking to correct him or her, unless they themselves ask for advice. Pray daily for the person. And as you listen to the voice of God's love, something inside you will flower and open naturally toward other realms of discernment. Inspired by God, impulses and ideas born of love will increase and expand to your other relationships as well. In truth, the knowledge and insights you gain from loving just one will become a natural catalyst in loving many. Discernment will grow as you love just one.

2013 In Review
Before I further delve into the exciting year that is upon us, I want to look back into the year that just transpired. Every year that comes is still an extension of a previous year and provides the platform for what is to come. The age we are in began Rosh Hashanah of 2012, and is the Age of Restoration of all things. This comes from Acts 3:21, which explains to us that Jesus is in fact "held in the Heavens" until certain minimal, millennium- sounding, societal reformations take place.
From Rosh Hashanah 2012 forward, all yearly events fall under the heavenly objectives for this Age of Restoration. These objectives for the Age of Restoration entail seeing more of Heaven on earth. While Protestants and Catholics alike quote and memorize "The Lords Prayer" of Matthew 6, those that are actually attempting to contend for His Kingdom to come on earth as it is in Heaven are considered by many to be "heretics." A great invitation is extended to us in this age to be "Heaven on earth heretics."
Renaissance
My initial word for 2013 spoke into an additional aspect of this new Age of Restoration: that it was all part of an era of "renaissance." Renaissance means "rebirth or revival of culture and learning." I was shown that this was about an explosion in the knowledge of God, where we would begin to know His actual ways and not just His salvation.
