A Biblical View of Homosexuality--New Book by Kevin DeYoung

I received this email from World Magazine today.  Even though it is a promotion for a new book I think it has value.  I read the linked chapter and found it enlightening.  In light of the controversy about same-sex marriage I thought it would be good to post it here because it attempts to answer questions that are brought up in most discussions of same-sex marriage these days.  Sometimes the discussion gets bogged down in trying not to hurt feelings, etc. so that the important issue that homosexuality and other sexual deviations--including adultery--are sins is obscured.  How can we be light to the nations if we, too, are in darkness?

Answering the most frequent objections Christians face.
An excerpt from a WORLD Book of the Year runner-up.

When church members ask a pastor, "I want to read one book spelling out the biblical view of homosexuality. What do you recommend?"Marvin Olasky says he hopes the pastor replies, "Kevin DeYoung's What Does the Bible Really Teach about Homosexuality?" DeYoung lays out the basics but then has succinct chapters answering the most frequent objections Christian face, including: There are only eight verses in the Bible criticizing homosexuality ... The Bible doesn't take into account loving long-term relationships ... You're on the wrong side of history ... It's not fair ... Why can't we just love each other?
WORLD has posted a chapter on our website from DeYoung's book, a runner-up for WORLD's Book of the Year in the Accessible Theology category.
We encourage you to take time this weekend toread this book excerpt. It's part of our ongoingSaturday Series of articles that tackle the issues Christians face today.
